One of our primary practice areas is dedicated to handling sophisticated estate and trust litigation. Our firm’s specialized litigation experience and capabilities differentiates us from most law firms, and complements our other estate and trust planning, administration, and accounting areas.
Our group has litigated disputes on behalf of executors, trustees, corporate fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and surviving spouses. Our litigation experience includes will contests, will and trust construction cases, asset recovery cases, and alleged breaches of fiduciary duty, including challenging or defending fiduciary accountings. We also have litigated actions alleging fraud, undue influence, mental incapacity, determinations of heirship, as well as the validity of marital agreements.
We also have extensive experience representing individuals, banks, and trust companies in connection with the litigation of tax disputes involving estates, trusts, gifts, and valuations.
We currently serve as counsel to the Trust Department of North Fork Bank.
